Tenerife is one of the most popular Spanish islands that make up the Canaries, renowned for its great beaches and evening entertainment, making it a superb destination for holidaymakers.
One of Tenerife’s other extremely popular attractions is their water parks, places where the whole family can enjoy a brilliant day out.
Here are the most amazing water parks Tenerife has to offer.
1. Siam Park
Siam Park is one of the most highly rated water parks in Europe offering so much more than an aqua park. It’s Tower of Power, The Dragon, and the Mekong Rapids that will get your heart thumping.
Siam Park is a thrilling adventure set in its own tropical heaven. You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky – you don’t even have to be a swimmer! The magical Siam, with its Thai theme throughout, is set in tranquil environment that the whole family can enjoy.
Walk around the pathways where you will find sea lions from Loro Parque and beautiful Koi Carp swimming beneath the wooden paths as the meandering river flows by. Visit the authentic Thai floating market and vanish to the magical world of Siam.
If you’d prefer to kick back and relax, the bars and restaurants where you can enjoy your favourite cocktails, and eat a snack or meal are perfect. Or make your way to the white sands where you can relax on the sun loungers and take in refreshing drinks from the bar.
2. Aqualand
Aqualand is located in the Costa Adeje area, near to the popular Playa de las Américas. It offers a fantastic day out for all the family, especially the kids who will love the slides, tunnels, play areas and swimming pools.
There are many restaurants, cafés, snack bars, shops, sun beds and sunshades scattered throughout the park. If you want the perfect day to keep the kids entertained in a safe environment while you can relax in the sunshine, Aqualand is the ticket.
3. Lago Martianez
Although not entirely a water park, this unique swimming complex in Puerto de la Cruz is a superb day out for all.
There are massive lagoons with fountains and child friendly pools. There are four saltwater pools to splash around in, and amazing waterfalls, caves you can swim through, and a giant fountain spurting water out into a huge swimming area. The water is pleasantly warm, and is seawater, filled from the sea as the level raises and falls with the tides.
There are many places to buy food and drinks at the bars, which are on an island in the middle of another pool, made to look like a big ship. Showers are provided to wash off the seawater, and plenty of shade to get out of the sweltering sun.
The kids’ area has a lovely shallow pool and a sculpture to climb on and slide down to explore. In fact, most of the pools are safe for children with an adult, as they’re fairly shallow.
The floor is made from pebbles, flip-flops or shoes needed, as it can be quite difficult to walk on, especially when it’s hot. Take note that you are not allowed to take cooler boxes in with you, or your own balls, and snorkelling masks and flippers.
4. Aqua Park
Aqua Park boasts an incredible range of aqua slides, cafes and impressive dolphin shows to amuse the whole family.
For those looking for a breathtaking experience, go down the Kamikaze slide at top speed or swirl around the extreme Tornado before racing against friends and family on the Twister to see who is the fastest.
For a more relaxing experience, the Congo River offers A gentle float around the park, where you can make the most of the sun, whilst the solarium and tropical gardens offer the chance to relax and take a break from the water slides.
A kids’ mini version is provided for children where they can explore a world of adventure looking for treasure on the pirate ship or slide down the slides in the medieval castle.
Ethical Water Parks in Tenerife
Unfortunately like several water parks around the world several in Tenerife feature unethical dolphin shows that use captive dolphins to perform tricks for human entertainment.
Although often described as one the best feature of the parks in promotion, dolphins being forced to live in tiny spaces under the sun performing daily shows to crowds is wrong, and shouldn’t be something you support.
Avoid these captive dolphin shows, and don’t support this industry.
